quick project: coffee scoop stand

doing my best to undertake a fair amount of quick personal projects. here's the first i'll be publishing.

i have a coffee grinder, and a grounds scoop, but nowhere to put the scoop. so, clearly we need a scoop holder.

production materials used in this project:

  • Form 1+ SLA printer
  • hand tools
  • Rockite

i found any excuse i could to use Rockite as it's a material i've been itching to use lately.
in this case it's used to cast a simple weighted base.

finished scoop stand:

step 1: scribbled maniacally

step 2: CAD up some failed ideas

step 3: pick a better design and follow through

modeled the scoop itself

 then the stand and base

then the stand and base

created a simple one-part mold for the concrete base. fingers crossed the SLA material can be poured directly into.
